How to disable Auto Licensing 

Problem

You are not able to turn off Auto Licensing in the Admin console.

Environment

• Admin console

Solution

1. Log in to the Admin console.
2. Select Billing > Subscriptions > Add or upgrade a subscription.
3. Select Cloud subscriptions and enable Cloud Identity free.
4. Go back to the main Subscriptions page and select the Google Workspace edition.
5. Click License settings and then turn off Auto Licensing.

Cause

Auto Licensing cannot be disabled because there's only 1 subscription active in the Admin console.

How to manage automatic licensing settings 

Problem

How to modify auto licensing in a way whenever there is an attempt to create a new user it is possible to choose which subscription that user should be under.

Environment

• Requires a super admin role along with Partial Domain Licensing.

Solution

1. Log in to the Admin console.
2. Navigate to Billing > License settings.
3. Switch Auto assign Google Workspace [Your edition] to OFF.
4. Click Save.
